Life on the Range

Sunset on the range

A Homecoming

The beginning

Weary of the city life and longing to be immersed in nature experiencing connectedness with all life on a daily basis once more, this seeker has found a place to truly call home in country northern NSW.

Significant new chapters in our lives usually come with an `invitation' of some kind. The tricky bit is recognizing or at least having some intuitive sense of what is being offered. Also, as the real gift may not be immediately apparent, finding the courage to not be freaked out by the ego's fears, but rather listen to the voice within and go with the flow is imperative.

When the pupil is ready the teacher appears.

Lao Tsu

As it is said, it's all in the timing!

Nature has always been my teacher.

Growing up in an unspoilt Fiji before tourism and spending many of my formative years with indigenous Fijians, I sensed at an early age that nature is sacred. Through my own experiences roaming `wild' in tropical jungles, swimming in remote icy mountain waterfalls and lying on beaches watching the magical night sky to name a few, I had an unspoken `knowing' that there is no separation. All is one.

Fast forward to 2019

What feels like lifetimes later, I am blessed to once again to be reconnected to nature in that visceral `knowing' way day in, day out. In present moment.

The many species of birds share their medicine/wisdom freely. Farm animals as well as goannas and snakes, trees and pristine night skies have their own stories to tell. All of which I will be sharing with you in my blogs.

Being here on the range, I am constantly reminded that we are one with nature. And so importantly that, not only is nature indeed our teacher, it is way past time for humankind to wake up!! To stop destroying the planet.

What we most need to do is hear within us the sound of the Earth crying.

Thich Nhat Hanh

The earth/planet desperately needs our loving concern and support. We must connect with mother nature and work with her as best we can, individually and collectively.

The veriditas website launched early April 2019 has been created with this urgency in mind. It is dedicated to Hildegard Von Bingen, 12th century mystic, scholar and visionary. She coined the term veriditas to refer to a "greening power" that animates and connects all life. She also continually urged humanity to wake up to their non- dual nature and work with the natural world. Her call to step up individually and collectively takes on growing urgency day after day.

Glance at the sun. See the moon and the stars. Gaze at the beauty of earth's greenings. Now, think. What delight [Spirit] gives to humankind with all these things. All nature is at the disposal of humankind. We are to work with it. For without we cannot survive.
